Our latest routine

Happy Autumn! We have settled into the new school year and routine after a couple of weeks of struggling with illnesses in between. After Nicholas’ good first day, the week went downhill when Catherine caught a stomach bug. So we did a bit of juggling after a tough night and a recovering day at home for Catherine and Phil.

Luckily Catherine didn’t have to start her early intervention language preschool until the following week. She’s in a small group and is the only girl at the moment. A speech pathologist is also involved and works with her teachers. So Catherine will be receiving quite a bit of support to prepare her for her official start to preschool next year. She’s also moved up to the preschool room at childcare but still requires a sleep in the middle of the day . After her official start, she caught a cold which was then passed on to me. After two weeks, I can finally say that I’ve recovered.

From Feb2014

While Catherine is at preschool, I have Tuesday mornings to myself. I’ve been using this time to run errands and do the grocery shopping for the week. When Phil’s not busy, we meet up for coffee and enjoy the peace. Wednesdays and Thursdays are my work days and we still do family Friday lunch to end the week.

Nicholas is attending swimming lessons again. He was able to participate at his school’s swimming carnival this year and he competed in the 50m backstroke race. It was nice to hear that he enjoyed it. He’s also continuing with gymnastics after school on Tuesdays and stays for after-school care on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

On the social front, we have had visitors, made a trip to Sydney to celebrate a friend’s milestone birthday and spent time with family.
