We made it to the Canberra Balloon Spectacular this year. We all tumbled out of bed and into the car at 6.30am to catch the congregation of hot air balloons. Parking was busy, so the family was dropped off near the lawns and I drove off to find parking near the lake. It was great to be among the crowds and to watch 30 or so balloons slowly inflating and taking off. Yoda, Angry Bird and Dodo were the kids' favourites. We even got to see a few of them land and deflate at Yarramundi Reach (on the way home). We got a bit snappy happy and between Phil and I, ended up taking over 100 photos. Don't worry, I didn't put all of them up.
Despite an early morning, we had energy for a play and paddle at the Cotter with family later in the afternoon. It's really nice to be only 15 minutes away from nature and recreation. We escaped the heat and it was a fun and relaxing time with family. Oh yeah, Happy Canberra Day!
