From Sep2015
Trees and flowers are blooming all around Canberra. Everyone and everything seem to have awoken from the cold and miserable winter. This past weekend has finally been warmer than usual and we’re all taking advantage of the beautiful weather by being out and about.
We had a nice afternoon with family at Canberra’s annual flower festival, Floriade. Although the flowers aren’t yet in full bloom, we still enjoyed a leisurely stroll and pleasant conversation, an ice-cream and lamington slice break, climbing trees and pretend house walls and ending with tips (tag) at the castle just outside of Floriade. And I still can't get over the fact that my nephew, the eldest of the four cousins, is only 6 cm shorter than me. I will soon be looking up to all of them!
Speaking of growing up, we’ve also discovered that Catherine has a loose tooth. She seems much younger than when Nicholas lost his first one. I had a brief moment of sadness when she showed me her wobbly tooth. All her baby teeth will be gone before we know it.
Since spring arrived, I’ve been active again and started going for walks. I’m also psyching myself up to attempt cycling. I still need to find the right bike. The rest of the family have been busy putting on various performances. Check out the videos in this month’s album.
To end the lovely weekend, we went for a picnic by the lake in an area we used to frequent for family Friday lunch when Nicholas was a toddler. We ate our Subway sandwiches and watched the sailboats go by before checking out the newly renovated Kspace at the National Museum of Australia. The new concept of building your own robot is neat but there are still a few teething problems and the game didn’t work very well.
After a quick run around at the museum’s concrete garden we conquered another mountain, Red Hill (720m). We climbed 200 steps up and then back down again. It took us about an hour with a short 10 minute stop at the top.
