Just over three weeks since our return from Japan. Seems so long ago now. We had an amazing time and fulfilled one of our dream trips. Since we got back we’ve been doing a bit of origami. Next time you see Nicholas, ask him to make you a swan.
The children are seasoned air travellers now. Headphones go on and off they go busily working the on-flight entertainment system. Meals are a bit hit-and-miss with them but one usually appreciates the food more than the other. Went on Qantas premium economy this time and enjoyed more leg room, warm heavy blankets (we weren’t freezing for once!) and drinks as we settled into our seats before take-off. Our flights were uneventful, although not so sure night flights would be our first choice anymore. We didn’t get enough sleep which left us really tired afterwards.
Our trip did not disappoint and although we had some challenging moments, I'm so glad that the kids enjoyed the experience as well. We walked a lot. So much more than what the kids are used to which no wonder left them so exhausted by the end of our days. I clocked 22,000 steps the day we went to DisneySea! Phil and I favoured Kyoto over Tokyo while the kids thought the opposite. Kyoto looks and feels like a sprawling garden with temples scattered everywhere. Tokyo is bustling with more foreigners around. Japan is so old-school, technologically advanced and efficient all at once. So many people, especially in Tokyo and yet there's an underlying feeling of respect and mindfulness of each other. It was fascinating to observe and be a part of what looked like chaos from the outside but really an orderly place. I would definitely love to come back to this beautiful country again and explore more.
