On her birthday she brought in chocolate chip cookies for the year 2 unit. For dinner she wanted make-your-own pizzas and an ice cream (sandwich) birthday cake. Then two days later we had a birthday tea party at our house.
In the lead up to the party, we made Chupa Chup bouquets for the favours. She designed and made her mini-cupcake birthday cake with a bit of help. She made the place cards and set each place on the table for herself and her 9 guests. It was fun decorating and setting up together.
We had a successful afternoon. The kids had lots of fun eating, drinking, drawing, getting tattoos, dancing and playing. Some mums stayed and it was nice to catch up with them too. It was great and amusing to watch Catherine taking charge and moving the party along. She would announce when each activity was about to begin. She’s still the social butterfly of the family.
At 8, Catherine loves to sing and make up songs. She also loves to tell us stories she makes up, sometimes performing puppet shows. She likes reading books. It’s especially lovely when she and Nicholas are reading together. When music comes on, she’s the first to bust her moves. She’s very expressive and she will let us know how she feels. Our happy, caring, funny, spirited and sensitive girl is growing up.
