Easter

We went away to Merimbula during the Easter long weekend. We left Thursday afternoon, a day after Nicholas got his braces. We thought we might have a miserable weekend ahead as Nicholas was in pain and not very happy. Thankfully, he was mostly back to himself on our second day away. He had soup, squeezy yogurt, jelly, oysters and panadol for a couple of days.

Almost everything in Merimbula was closed on Good Friday. We stopped by the playground at Spencer Park and felt like it had shrunk since we were there last. The kids looked big against the play equipment. It was low tide so we took a short stroll on the sand before we headed to the cinema to watch Captain Marvel (3.5 stars).

On Saturday we went to one of our favourite spots, Pambula Beach. The kids eventually got in the water and splashed around for a while. We went exploring the rocks afterwards and I only just discovered one of the great views of Pambula Beach on top of the rocks. It was lovely to just sit and take in the view for a while with Nicholas. Phil and Catherine in the meantime went around the long way up the cliffs and back. It was a beautiful day for our adventure. We made a quick stop at Wheelers and got some takeaway oysters.

On Sunday we went to church at St Clement’s. It was packed and quite stuffy in there so eventually Nicholas and I went outside. We had morning tea at a cafe down the road called Mormors and had a nice slice of cake. On our way back to the car we stopped at Merimbula Fresh Seafoods and bought more oysters to add to our Easter seafood lunch.

Later that afternoon we drove to Short Point Beach. We didn’t go in the water this time but we did more exploring and climbing. We had a great time walking and navigating the rocks. Towards the end, Nicholas unfortunately got stung by a bee after grabbing hold of one of the rocks. Luckily he had a minor reaction. We headed back to Canberra the next morning.
