We almost did not make it to Floriade this year. Luckily, I booked a photography workshop at Floriade one early Saturday morning. It was a different experience exploring the grounds without the crowds. The workshop went from 6.30 to 10am. It was supposed to finish at 9.30 but there was a lot of time spent on the critique session. It was helpful and interesting to see other people's photographic perspective of Floriade. I learned a few things that morning.

My second visit to Floriade was with the family after work on a late Friday afternoon. We had about an hour until closing time. There were no crowds and it was a bit chilly. Two weeks later from the workshop, different flowers were in bloom. The kids weren't too engaged, probably because of the weather and the time of day. School holidays felt busy - brought kids to work with us, took Catherine to swimming classes, organised play dates and a couple of days with grandparents.
